For some of you, it's NOT what you think ;)
After Liam's last game of soccer on Saturday, playing at the park, an 11 year old boy falls from the monkey bars...
He knocks the wind out of himself, tries to stand up, and bashes his mouth again a metal pole.
He falls down and says he can't breathe, and blood is covering his teeth...
"Parents?!! Where are this boy's parents?!!"
Not here.
"Somebody call 911!"
Silence.
"Could somebody call 911?!!!"
Three people call now. I call Jacob's Dad (he could tell me his name and Dad's cell number).
The poor little boy kept telling me his mouth was really numb and he couldn't breathe.
The Fire Rescue showed up, Jacob's parents got there, and 20 minutes later...he was walking over to his Mom's car.
Scary!
Saturday night, Liam has a fever. 101.5, give him some Motrin...he sleeps with me. Burning up ALL night.
Fever all day Sunday, he's miserable and complaining of his throat hurting, body aches, chills, neck hurting.
He tells me I have something black on my face, he's seeing shadows...what?!
10:30 that night I call the on call nurse. With those symptoms, specifically the stiff neck, he has to be seen in the next two hours. UGH!!!
Off we go to the ER. He's crying and upset, fever back up to 102.7. No meningitis, like they suspected. No strep.
An order for Motrin, liquids and rest...and we head home at 1:00am
This was him today...
Outside playing with all of the energy in the world! Good job nurse Andrea!
So...Leighton decides to throw one of her spectacular, drama filled, temper tantrums.
Thrashing around, screaming and crying, she smashes her delicate little head into the wall...

I am hanging up my stethoscope, opening a bottle of wine, and I think I might actually get to sleep in my own bed tonight with my husband. Because right now, I need a drink and a good night sleep!
I feel like I resemble our friend "Guy" in the front room right about now!!
